Health and Safety
Insurance
You must have appropriate medical insurance to cover you in the event
of an emergency during your holiday.
You are also strongly advised to take out appropriate insurance to cover
your baggage and other personal effects, and to cover you in the event
of delays to your travel arrangements.
You are responsible for your baggage and personal effects at all times.
YOU MUST BRING A COPY OF YOUR MEDICAL AND TRAVEL INSURANCE POLICIES WITH
YOU.
Clothing
Riding clothes (including spares in case you get wet in the rain), casual
clothes for the evenings, rain-clothes, stout boots suitable for riding
and walking, sun hat, sun glasses, and swimming costume.
The following are compulsory equipment for these rides - waterproof jacket
and waterproof trousers, or waterproof full length riding coat, warm hat
(if you do not intend to wear your riding hat) and gloves to keep you
warm in wind and rain.
There is no need for formal clothes in any of the places where you will
be staying on the riding trip. You may carry valuables on horseback in
a “bum bag” or a sporting waistcoat. (Be aware that “bum
bags” can worsen injuries in the event of a fall.)
Remember that:
1) Whilst comfortable saddles are provided, if you are unused to riding
5 or 6 hours a day then please take precautions against chaffed legs.
Protection may be provided by wearing leather or suede chaps over jodhpurs,
or long underwear/tights beneath jodhpurs.
2) Temperatures can be cool outside at night, especially early and late
in the season – some nights are spent at altitudes as high as 2,000m.
3) You will be riding in a mountain area prone to sudden changes of weather,
therefore you must bring waterproof and windproof garments (both jacket
and trousers) in case of sudden storms. In spring and autumn sudden cold
spells are possible, so bring warm clothing including gloves and hats.
Bring warm clothes as a precaution, including a warm hat and gloves, even
in summer since the rides travel through high and exposed places.

Safety equipment
Riding hats and other safety equipment may reduce severity of injuries
in case of an accident. It is your personal choice whether or not to use
safety equipment.

There is no legal obligation to use safety equipment in Romania , and
the Country Club allows experienced adults to exercise their discretion.
We ask that inexperienced riders and children under 18 years old wear
riding hats. If you wish to use safety equipment then please bring your
own.
A ventilated riding hat may prove more comfortable in hot weather –
if you bring this type then a removable hat cover is useful to keep rain
out of hat vents.
Other items
Insect repellant (as a precaution since insects are not usually a problem),
torch with spare bulb and spare batteries, plug adaptor if required (the
two-pin 220v system is used in Romania ), water bottle to carry in saddlebags,
and a whip if you prefer to carry one.
